And while I’m an aspiring gym rat now (3 times a week is respectable, right? — though I’d like to get it up to 5 times/week), I still have never returned to “the rope” or pull-ups.

My particular horror (other than sports in general, as I was…a couch potato of the worst kind) was the timed mile run. Why they thought it was a good idea to have us one day (with NO preparation or training) run a mile for time and grade us on it, I’ll never know.

P.E. class scarred me for years in terms of what I thought I was physically capable of. Like you, I found my way around that. Thankfully! An interesting side effect of that is that when I discover something I can do that I figured I wouldn’t be able to, I feel like a tremendous badass and that I can conquer the world.

Perhaps I should try the rope! I remember trying and failing that back in the day as well.
