I just read this blog before my first 25k! (Dinosaur Valley in Glen Rose Texas bib 985) I am in a very similar situation as I have never run further than 13.1 miles haha. I’m eager to race this technical course though. I wanted to asked the milage in your blog vs title had me confused did you run 25k or 25M. Thanks!

Hi Kara! Thanks for the comment — and I’m so excited for the journey you’re on! I think my pace averaged out to about 12:30/mi, assuming the course mileage was accurate. Good luck!

I’m three years late to this post but when I searched 25K trail runs this came up and I’m amazed at your story and appreciate all the details! I started training yesterday and got 8 miles in and felt amazing! Just a question… what was your pace to finish in the time you did? Great Job!

Hi Laci! How cool is that? I’d love to hear how it went — I didn’t make it up there this year, but a lot of my friends were out on those trails. I hope you had an amazing experience. Maybe I’ll see you at another one someday soon! –FBG Kristen

I just googled first 25k trail race and your post is the first result! I got even more excited as I believe I’m running the same race, yours had to be the Gate2Gate! I have only been running a few months but I have gone further than 15.5 miles so I’m going into this race with a smile and positive attitude! Thank you for sharing!

Congrats! I’ve run one road marathon and I’m meh about doing another (unless it’s in some outstanding location). I want to do more of an ultra distance, but definitely trail like this. Thanks for the inspiration!

I did not realize how tough that was until I read your recap. Getting past the mental walls is a huge accomplishment!!! Also maybe a good reason to buy a new watch 😉
