I’ve been learning about chromatic aberrations and what causes them. But what I haven’t been able to find an answer to is if aberrations are less frequent in more expensive lenses.

For example, would my Canon 18-55mm zoom lens produce more aberrations than a 35mm L lens from Canon? My assumption is that the 35mm lens would be WAY better since it’s L series, but I could be wrong. I scoped out the topic in this article https://www.photographytalk.com/chromatic-aberration-and-how-to-fix-it-in-photoshop-or-lightroom but it doesn’t explain whether lens quality has anything to do with more or less aberrations.

While we’re on the topic of lenses, would a 35mm or 50mm prime be a better bet for my first lens (other than the kit lens)? I shoot mostly landscapes but an occasional portrait too.”
